With temperatures predicted to be in the triple digits throughout the next week and foreseeable future, Tenaha ISD along with West Sabine ISD have agreed to move this week's contest to a kick-off time of 7:30 PM. Due to this incredible heat wave we are experiencing, Tenaha ISD is working to ensure our student athletes, coaches and staff, along with our fans' safety is our top priority. Measures that have been put in place to protect and serve our teams are as follows: * Water and ice will be available on the sidelines to hydrate and cool players (applying cold compresses to the neck and head) throughout the game *Hydration drinks of various types (Gatorade, Body Armour, Liquid IV - after game) are being purchased for all participating students during Friday night's game (Band, Cheer and Football). *All personnel, band members, cheerleaders have received amended dress code requirements that include shorts or light clothing; fans are encouraged to take the same measures and precautions as well. *Students are reminded to appropriately eat and stay hydrated DAILY as this extends over to practices as well. We ask that if you notice anyone in distress from the heat, please report to Laura Walker-Holmes immediately, as she will be the administrator on duty at this week's game in Pineland. Additionally, we will have our District Athletic Trainer, Jeff Davis, on the sidelines to assist with any issues that may arise as well. Each week, we will re-evaluate the necessary precautions needed to ensure the safety of our Tigers until this heat wave has lifted. Please remember this week's game vs West Sabine is in Pineland, TX at 7:30 PM - tickets will be available at the gate (no pre-sale for away games)...about 50 miles from Tenaha down HWY 96 South through Center, San Augustine and Bronson. Come out and support our amazing students and staff!!! Go TIGERS!

Happy Monday TigerNation! Fall Photos will be taken on Thursday, August 31st. These photos will begin at 8am with Junior High and High School students being called by grade level to the SEC Concourse, and Elementary students by grade/class in a designated area in the Elementary wing. ALL Students will have a photo made on this day; these are the photos used in the yearbook. We will be sending home more information regarding online pre-purchasing options, as well as, traditional paper order forms that may be returned with payment on picture day. We are up bright and early asking for traveling Grace and well wishes for our Tiger Cross Country runners as they head out to San Augustine today for their first meet of the season. Best of luck to all of our Tigers and Coaches!

Attention Parents of Freshman Tigers: Mrs. Barr & Mr. Byrdsong will be hosting a Freshman Parent Night, Tuesday, August 22nd at 6:30pm in the TISD Cafeteria. This will be an informative meeting where you will be filled in on a lot of upcoming events and detailed information that will help you prepare for the current and upcoming high school years with your Tiger Student. Good Morning TIGERNATION! After morning drop-off the elementary entrance will be locked for repairs. Please go to the high school office if you need to contact the elementary office during the school day. Parent pickup will operate from the elementary entrance as usual at 3:15. Thank you for your patience as we work to make improvements to our facilities!

Attention Tiger Parents/Guardians: Today, your student's will be bringing home a one page document that includes instructions on how to access your student's STAAR Scores and testing data from the 2022-2023 school year. Attached to this document is a card that contains an access code that will be needed to retrieve the scores and other information provided by TEA. Once you have received this document from your student, you may navigate to www.texasassessment.gov where you will enter the access code located on the card attached to the one pager sent home, along with your student's date of birth and LEGAL first name. If you have any questions, you may contact the school office tomorrow during normal school hours.

ATTENTION TIGERNATION! Please remember: According to our school handbook, if a change needs to be made to the way your child will be getting home from school, those changes must be communicated to the school by 2:30 pm each day. This is IMPERATIVE in order for our transportation department to make arrangements and those changes to be communicated effectively to all involved for the safety of our students. TIGERS!! ALL REGISTRATION PACKETS are DUE completed back to the school offices by this FRIDAY, AUGUST 18th! For our Elementary Tigers, Mrs. Ward wants to reward the FIRST GRADE LEVEL to turn in ALL OF THEIR PACKETS with DONUTS!! This is for PK4-6th GRADES!! However, ALL GRADE LEVELS MUST TURN IN PACKETS!! GET THOSE PACKETS IN TIGERS!! Thank you for your help in this matter!

As we wrap up the first week of school, we as a staff at Tenaha ISD, reflect on what a tremendously successful week it has truly been. In the midst of "organized chaos", our TIGERS have seamlessly orchestrated, yet again, another beautiful beginning to what is going to be one of the best school year's in TISD History! We want to send a heartfelt thank you to all of our TIGER students, their families and all those that have made this week possible. We would also like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR TENAHA COMMUNITY including the Tenaha First Baptist Church and Brother Bill for hosting our Friday morning In-Service Breakfast and message for the Staff to kick-off the school year, along with donating additional school supplies to the elementary campus in addition to donating headphones for our 2nd and 3rd grade classes. We would also like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to the Church of Christ who also donated supplies and loaded backpacks to each and every room in the elementary school as well! Without the support of this amazing community, our school year wouldn't be as successful year after year. We are sincerely grateful for your support and appreciate your continued prayers for each and every student and staff member as we embark on this journey.

For the 2023-2024 School Year, our PK4-6th graders will have a chance to "BE A TIGER" each 6 Weeks. In order to get a hole punched, they must be able to meet ALL of the qualifications below. If our Tigers get their hole punched three 6 weeks in a row, they will earn a big trip at the end of the semester/school year. Students will start over with a clean slate each 6 weeks. T - Terrific Behavior: Students must have an S or E for conduct and NO office referrals I - Isip Goal: Students reach or surpass their math/reading goal on IStation (grades k-6) PK sets goas for letter/number recognition G - Growth: Students must have A/Bs in 2nd-6th, 2/3s in pk-1st or show growth (after 1st 6 weeks) E - Excellent Attendance: No more than 2 excused absences (doctor's note), 2 late arrivals, 2 early pick-ups (before 3pm) in a 6 week period. R - Relentless: Continuously shows effort in extracurricular classes (PE for PK-6th and band for 4th-6th) with minimal behavior issues. Let's GO TIGERS!!! Get to work and BECOME A TIGER!!

Just a few reminders as we prepare for DAY 2: Parents and Community Members: We will begin adhering to all safety protocols TOMORROW! There will be no parents/guardians allowed inside the school once students have been dropped off or during lunch hours. All gates, entrances and exits will remain locked at all times during the school day for the safety of our Tigers.
