✨SENIOR SPOTLIGHT✨
In Memory of Klayton Lewis Chambliss

Above all else, Klayton was a Tenaha Tiger first!
He was incredibly proud of that.

When he started first grade, his biggest dream was to grow up and be a Tenaha Tiger football player. Eventually, we had to break it to him that he couldn’t spend his entire adult life playing high school football… but his Tiger pride never faded.
As the school years passed, we watched his class grow together — friendships formed, lessons were learned, and childhood slowly turned into young adulthood. Life was good, and the future felt bright.

During Klayton’s 8th grade year, everything changed. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It happened so fast. We were all left in shock. After four brain surgeries in just two weeks, we received the news no family ever wants to hear. Klayton’s tumor was malignant — a high-grade Glioblastoma, an aggressive cancer with only a 5% survival rate.

We spent a lot of time at Texas Children’s Hospital on the neuro floor recovering from surgeries. There were many very young children there. Late at night, we could hear them crying. One evening, Klayton told me he prayed and asked God to let him carry their pain because he was strong enough and they were just babies who didn’t understand what was happening.

That was Klayton’s heart.

He was strong through every step of his journey and stood completely in faith. In the end, he faced death with courage beyond his years. He told me he wasn’t afraid because he knew where he was going.

This school and community rallied for us in a way that I have never witnessed before. My family will never forget the love you have shown us through the most difficult times of our life.
