The Tiger Yearbook Staff took a road trip to Dallas yesterday after the whirlwind that is the first semester of the school year and all the work that encompasses for a yearbook staff!!! This is the first year since COVID that the Balfour plant has allowed in person tours, so the staff was excited to get a first hand view of how our books are printed and put together for the very first time by their yearbook rep, Wendy Dobson. Not only were they able to see the Komori presses at work, along with the individual name stamping and pressing of each book and diploma that will soon be delivered and handed out all across the nation, but they also found a really cool "college wall" that they just had to stop and take photos in front of before leaving. They left with some great ideas to incorporate into their current book, along with new knowledge and appreciation for what our production team does behind the scenes to get our books pieced together each year as we work on them here in Tenaha. They were then treated to lunch by Balfour before heading back home. A huge shout out to one of TISD's newest certified CDL/bus drivers, Mrs. Colette DePriest for doing an AMAZING job getting us to and from Dallas on the charter!! Driving all those horse trailers definitely paid off:)
If you see a yearbook staff member, please tell them what a great job they do. These students are at every event. They work incredibly hard and do so without any recognition or awards. They love being a part of the school culture and creating something that students and the community will have for many years to remember and cherish. Great job Tiger Staff...keep making a difference!

As Black History Month comes to a close, we wanted to share what some of our teachers did this month with their classes. English students in Mrs. Silvey's classes read articles, speeches or poems about the following icons:
Martin Luther King
Condoleeza Rice
Serena Williams
Pele
Kobe Bryant
Langston Hughes
Each student researched a Black American icon who made a direct contribution to history. They each chose a name, some more familiar than others, then they were to create a puzzle piece with the following information from their research:
a picture, a diagram or symbol of their contribution, a summary of why they are important to our history, birth and death dates (although some are still living), and cite the sources they used according to MLA format. The pieces are on display in the High School hallway so that everyone can see what these individuals did and become more educated about the accomplishments and contributions of these notable Black Americans.
Thank you Mrs. Silvey for going above and beyond to incorporate this within your daily curriculum!!

Congratulations to our February Students and Staff of the Month:
Paraprofessionals: Cindy Moreno & Lupita Sandoval
First Grade Students: A'Tracelyn Evans & Jamon Moore
Sophomore Students: CJ Suell & Shelby Eubank
