    Cristie Roye was recently hired as an assistant band director for Tenaha ISD. Ms. Roye will be the third director of staff, and will be in charge of percussion and trumpet sectionals, beginner classes, and the 6th grade band.  She will also assist Ms. Landrum with the junior high band and Mr. Sours with the high school band.

    Cristie is entering her 13th year of teaching. Previously, Ms. Roye has been the Director of Bands at Sulphur Springs Middle School. Under her direction at Sulphur Springs Middle School, the 8th grade Varsity Middle School Band received Sweepstakes.  She had over twenty 7th/8th grade students place in the All-Region band, and over thirty 7th/ 8th grade students receive superior ratings at solo & ensemble contest.  The 6th grade band also received superior ratings at various competitions.  Prior to that, Ms. Roye was an assistant director at Crandall ISD, where she was in charge of percussion and trumpet instruction for all the bands in the District.

    Ms. Roye graduated from Hallsville High School in Hallsville, TX in 1994.  She has a Music Education Degree from Baylor University in Waco, TX, where she graduated in the fall of 2000.  During her time at Baylor University, she studied trumpet under Berry Hopper.  She was a part of the Golden Wave Marching Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Chamber Ensemble.

    When Ms. Roye is not teaching, you can find her out riding her bicycle.  She is an avid cyclist who enjoys both road and mountain biking.  She participates in many bicycle rides around the State of Texas as a participant, as well as a volunteer.

    Ms. Roye is excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Tenaha Tiger Band Program, and to be joining the Tenaha ISD family.
