Tenaha Students Kick Off Soles 4 Souls Campaign
Tenaha Elementary PALS (Promoting Achievement and Leadership Skills) organization has initiated their first project. Members of the PALS program, along with Tenaha Elementary GT students, work furiously to complete posters for the March 1st kick off date for the Soles 4 Souls campaign 2010. After seeing the devastation and suffering of Haiti victims Fourth grader, Jaden Washington, came up with the idea to raise money for these victims of the Haiti earthquake. Soles 4 Souls was the perfect organization to contribute money to.
Soles 4 Souls, inc. began as a small team effort to make a difference in people’s lives with the gift of shoes. The charity began shortly after Hurricane Katrina roared ashore the gulf coast of the U.S. A group of caring individuals and motivated charities created a website called KatrinaShoes.org in order to collect footwear donations from companies and individuals.
The response to the call for action was overwhelming. The charity discovered the need for basic footwear was immense. KatrinaShoes.org reincorporated as Soles4Souls, Inc., which has become an acclaimed international organization dedicated to providing free footwear to those in desperate need.
Tenaha’s Elementary PALS has made a commitment to get involved in making a difference in people’s lives. In conjunction with Soles4Souls, PALS will be able to send desperately needed shoes to the victims of the Haiti Earthquake. PALS has set a goal to collect $1,000. from March 1st-March 11th. This money will be sent Soles4Souls and used to get footwear to those in need.
The Tenaha Elementary Students will be collecting donations. You may also donate on the website
