Tiger Band News
The Roarin’ Band from Tigerland did a superb job at the Joaquin game for their first performance. They performed the first half of their UIL contest drill which included Triumph Fanfare, Mighty Mite March, Lexington March, and Precision Fanfare.
The Tiger Dolls did a fantastic routine to the top 40 hit Just Dance. If you missed it last week, come see us this Friday night when the Tigers versus Timpson as we continue to work towards receiving that first division trophy.
From the Principal’s Office:
It’s official… school is back in session. As we conclude our 2nd full week of classes, it is safe to say that the daily grind of education has begun. There is much to be excited about already as the Tiger Footballers already appear to be in mid-season form. The Tiger Band (with its largest participation numbers ever) was able to take the field and make an early dry run through their drill. And finally, our students are settling in to a groove with a much improved and enhanced offering of courses. You would be proud to note that our Career and Technical Education class offerings have expanded and our students are getting exposure to a wide range of topics and skill building courses. Mrs. Lemoine is developing basic computer skills for our 9th grade by teaching Office skills such as typing, power point, excel, etc. All are skills that will be of use for students who go to college. Mrs. Looney is teaching $ and Sense to a group of 9th and 10th graders that is exposing students to career choices and opportunities in today’s world along with some “common sense” financial decision making and skills. Students from all of our grade levels are learning about careers and skills in vocational Agriculture and animal management from Mrs. Ashley Armstrong; and, Mr. Jackson is busy working with some of our “techies” on some advance digital imaging on the computer. Finally, in keeping with the theme of increased emphasis on civics education, I am teaching a group of 11th and 12th graders a course that focuses on the basic principles and foundations of government in America. It is more of a “why?” class than a “what?” class in examining the development of the American Experiment. All of these course offerings are available to all our students in addition to the hard work our core area teachers do in preparing students for the core knowledge they will need in college. Be proud that with our best efforts, our students are being given an opportunity for a well-rounded educational experience. Good luck and keep it up Tigers.
