    Welcome to High School English!

My name is Dominique Roland, and I am excited to be working with your child this year. I have been teaching English and Language Arts for eight years, and I enjoy teaching English because I firmly believe that a student's ability to read and write can directly impact his or her future life and career path.   I care deeply about each of my students and strive to push each student to grow and develop into an independent, critical thinker.

Students are expected, to be prepared daily; bringing all necessary books, assignments, and materials.  Students will be informed each Monday, of that week's planned assignments, expectations, and due dates.  This information will also be posted on my class website. Additional information about the class is provided in the syllabus attached to each class. Please read that syllabus and sign the detachable potion on the bottom of the note sent home during the first week of school in order to indicate your understanding and support of the classroom system. There is also space provided for you to express any questions, concerns or comments. Students should return that portion to me.

While I am your child’s teacher, I am only one part of your child’s academic future.  Parent encouragement and involvement along with student cooperation and participation are vital components of educational growth.  If you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, I am available for phone calls and meetings (by appointment please) each day before and after school. To schedule a meeting, you may contact me via email at rolanddominique@tenahaisd.com.

I am excited about working with your child. I welcome questions or comments, and am looking forward to a great year!

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Roland
